The North London Derby is soon to arrive and I’ve named my predicted starting XI for the clash against the Spuds.
GK-Petr Cech: Premier League legend and our undoubted No.1, Petr needs no more explanation.
RB-Hector Bellerin: If fit he must start, left out of our Champions League clash due to a slight injury, Hector should be ready for some game time and Arsenal could use the speedy Spaniard’s pace against the Spuds.
CB-Shkodran Mustafi: Despite making an error that allowed Jonathan Cafu to score on Tuesday Mustafi has been an undoubted success so far, finally a partner worthy of Koscielny, Shkodran will, when ever possible, will start.
CB-Laurent Koscielny: The Boss, the best defender in the Premier League. He’s another who needs no explanation as to why he’s here. Just hope he and Mustafi are fully concentrated for the match with danger men: Alli, Son and Erikson (and Kane?).
LB-Nacho Monreal: I’d prefer Gibbs if I’m honest but the fact that Kieran played on Tuesday and got a knock means Nacho will probably start, not that it’s a bad thing. Monreal is the most consistent player out there and also a great left back, so I trust Nacho to do a job without being spectacular.
CDM-Francis Coquelin: Our enforcer will be their to cut out any threat in our half, most importantly Dele Alli and Erikson who are the Spuds’s creative hubs. He is crucial to cutting out their quick play and preventing them from making chances.
CM-Aaron Ramsey: Wenger loves Ramsey and there is no better opportunity for him than now. With Santi out, Xhaka’s discipline still an issue and Elneny not as loved by Wenger this is Ramsey time to shine. Ramsey does offer energy in the midfield and goal threat as well so he’ll be a solid option for the NLD to keep the Spuds on their toes.
CAM-Mesut Ozil: The Wizard that is Mesut is becoming a pivotal figure at Arsenal (screw that he already is) and Mr Assist has become Mr Worldie Goals. With his new found goal scoring form, Mesut is becoming the all-round CAM that we need and his creativity will be vital to breaking down the Spuds relatively strong defence.
RM-Theo Walcott: Last season this wouldn’t even had come to mind but now Theo is now a vital piece of our attack. His speed to get behind the back and goal scoring ability have been vital to Arsenal at the start of the season and now fit again must prove himself the part in arguably our most important fixture so far (sorry Ox though you’ve done good so far).
LM-Alex Iwobi: Our young Nigerian (God I wish he’d picked England) wonderkid is someone who I see as our future No.10 but is too good to leave off the starting XI. I think as good as he is, he needs to add some stats to his game in the ‘Goals’ and ‘Assists’ categories. Whilst a great passer and fantastic on the ball he needs to add some of the runs behind (like Walcott) to create chances for himself and others to really show he’s ready to join the elites. Saying all this I wouldn’t take him out of the starting lineup as his displays have still shown he is worth keeping in.
CF-Alexis Sanchez: Our Duracell battery is proving he is one of the best players in the world. He scores, creates, assists, runs, runs, runs, runs…you see the point. A player like Sanchez is invaluable to us with his unshatterable work ethic and natural talent. As good as Giroud is, Alexis is better and he will cause havoc for the Spuds as long as he’s on the pitch.
Subs: Ospina would obviously feature. I’d bet that Gibbs and Holding will make the bench over Jenko and Gabriel. Xhaka is too good to be out of the squad and Elneny has also played well recently, assisting Ozil’s wondergoal. The Ox and Giroud also make it after great performances in recent matches.
